I agree with the HuffPo: Britney Spears' isolated vocal track hurts to hear. I still love the music and think she's a talented performer, but this is disappointing and does take-away some of the beauty from her music. It's like the deception of green screens. I don't agree with Elton John that lip-syncers should be shot, but I'd prefer the music industry to be honest about what's going on. The demonstration in this video of how auto-tune works is shocking.

The RT piece could have done without the emperor's new clothes tie-ins, but the point is well-made. Let's remember entertainment is for... uh... entertainment purposes. That the entertainment industry enhances talent with technology isn't all that surprising. Don't forget all industries use technology in some way to enhance people's talents. If it's too disappointing, think of it as fiction and enjoy it in that spirit.
