Image of Your site looks like a “me too.” You’re just trying to make a better Reddit.

Uhm, is there a question here?

Don’t get us wrong: we think reddit is awesome. They were one of our inspirations. We are supportive of their technology, their business model, their goals, their push for civil rights and against government tyranny, and, overall, their community. The rate at which their community has grown is beyond phenomenal. (Bows down in our chant: “we are not worthy.”)

But there are some choices made by reddit that are different than the choices we have made. We handle spam management much differently. Our business model is different. We allow community owners to make their own decisions around private information. Removed content will not be censored (unless it’s against our user agreement). We allow community owners and moderators to run their communities almost like a business. We provide tools to help our community make money.

The social network space has plenty of room for healthy competition. Reddit is one of the leaders in this space. They have made the world a better place. They haz our gratitude. They’ve been an inspiration. Imitation is the highest form of flattery. Thank you reddit...

... we’ll take it from here. :)

About FAQ

gettingstarted/faqc_prompt

We’re not entirely sure it’s appropriate to call this the Frequently Asked Questions area as, candidly, we don’t keep track of how often these questions get asked. Consider this community as a place where we post answers to what we anticipate your questions will be. But, if our crystal ball is malfunctioning, feel free to post your question in /GettingStarted/Help. If we turn your question into an FAQ, we’ll credit you back the karma to post it. It’s the least we can do. We also welcome suggestions at /GettingStarted/SuggestionBox.
