Misty River Music Makers - it's all about the people...
First and foremost, Misty River is a place where friendship and song blend together. Our members are women from all over the Fox Valley area and the Western Suburbs of Chicago, in all walks and stages of life: working moms, stay at home moms, grand moms and singles! What we all have in common is that we love to sing and harmonize together. We have a lot of fun doing it too! We welcome women of all ages to come sing with us and have a fun filled night. Misty River Music Makers was founded in 1983 as a chapter of the larger organization, Harmony, Inc., an international, non-profit, educational and singing organization for women. As a member of Harmony, Misty River often competes at Area and International Competitions.

We are here to promote friendship and fun while providing women who sing with an opportunity to: improve vocally and as performers, sing on a regular basis, perform for the local community, and grow as members of the larger community of barbershop singers.
Performance
The main purpose of our chorus is to sing out in the community. In addition to hosting our own shows, we are available to perform for a variety of audiences including festivals, business events, charitable and civic organizations, church groups, social clubs and retirement communities. Education
In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of a cappella singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals, and a very important component of the chorus experience. A couple of times a year, we will get coaching from a visiting master in the art of barbershop, where we learn many fabulous tricks of the trade.
Competition
In June of every year, Misty River Music Makers participates in the Area 4 Contest. The competitions are held in a different city and state within the area each year so that each chorus gets a chance to play host. Competitions are a special time for quartets and choruses from our area to come together to sing for each other, and benefit from the constructive feedback of a panel of judges. The quartets and choruses who score high enough in the area competitions qualify to compete in the International Convention and Contest, which is held in November of each year at a rotating site.
